Controlling is the fifth key of the management process. It is a process of verifying actual performance with the planned performance to see how much has been achieved or whether we are going to right direction or not. Controlling is an exercise of introspection. It helps in achieving organisational goals. In business, by continuously keeping a check on the changing situations and environment, controlling helps the management to review and revise the standards, so that its accuracy can be maintained.
