Guide: How To Run Windows 11 in Virtual Machines

If you want to see the Preview Insiders version of Windows 11, you have a few options about how and where to install it. It can be installed on a dedicated or PC replacement, set up as part of a dual-boot program to interact with another version of Windows, or install it as a virtual machine.

In some ways, a virtual machine is the most effective option because it allows you to control the amount of disk space, memory, and other resources allocated to the operating system. The main disadvantage is that a virtual machine may be slower than its normal operating system because it does not use the full power of your PC. However, if you have enough free space and memory, performance should not be too controversial.

Download Windows 11 ISO File

Your first step is to download the Microsoft Windows 11 ISO file which you can use to set up up Your VM immediately. To download this ISO file, when you need to register with Microsoft Windows Insider Program, you need a Microsoft account. If you are not already logged in to Administrator Settings, go to the Windows Administrator page and sign in with your Microsoft account. On the registration page, check the box to accept the terms of this Agreement and click register.

To download the actual ISO file, browse to the Windows Insider Preview Records page and log in with your Microsoft account. Scroll down to the Select publication section. Click the drop-down menu for Select Edit. Here, you can choose either Windows 11 Insider Preview (Dev channel) or Windows 11 Insider Preview (Beta Channel).

Beta channel is more stable and will contain only features due to appear in this year’s official release of Windows 11. Dev Channel is less stable and will have new updates and features beyond those scheduled for Windows 11 later this year. Select the desired channel and then click Confirm.

Next, select the product language and click Confirm. Click the Download button for writing and selecting the language and save the file to your PC.

Click Open Diagnostic & results link and turn on Send optional data conversion option. Return to the previous screen and click Start button.
