When it comes to Windows 11, it comes with six beautiful themes: Windows (light), Windows (black), Glow, Motion Capture, Sunrise, and Flow. Windows light and black themes have only one background image, while other themes have four background images each. By default, the Windows theme (light) is used as the standard theme on Windows 11 PCs. When black mode is enabled, the Windows (black) theme is used.

While there is nothing wrong with the default design, not all computer users like it and want to change it. Windows 11 has a simple option to change the default theme. You can easily select one of the themes provided from the Settings application. If you are not satisfied with any of the six themes included with Windows 11, you can download and install new themes from the Microsoft Store or another third-party website.

Select a Theme

To change the color of Windows 11, open Settings> Settings> Personal. From this menu, you can select a theme to apply to all your Windows menus. These themes can change your background, desktop icons, taskbar, accent colors, applications, and menu menus. Windows 11 comes with many pre-loaded themes, some of which changed the black elements. The official black theme is available, but the Glow and Capture themes also give you a black background.

Under Settings> Settings> Personal> Themes, you can select Browser themes to open the Microsoft Store and add new themes to your computer. Click Contrast themes to open up space settings with themes for low vision and light sensitivity. (You can also download it here via Access> Variable Themes.) These various themes add black elements to Windows 11. Select the desired theme from the drop-down menu and click Apply. Select Edit to replace individual color elements for each theme.

Customize Colors

Instead of combining preset changes, you may instead want to change individual colors and do what it is and the black mode does not apply. From the personal screen, go to Colors. Then you can set more custom black mode or change the accent colors. Open Select your status drop-down menu to choose between Light, Dark, and Custom. This will change the color of the menus in Windows 11, but will not change the background. Click Custom and you can choose which OS components will use Black and which will use Light.

Under the Accent colors section, you can select the color you want to use next to the selected mode. Either select from the pallets offered by Windows or click View colors under the Custom menu to create your own color. Other options allow you to control where these accents colors will appear, such as work bars and title bars.
