To create a Github repo on Windows.

  • Open Git Bash
    • If Git is not already installed, it is very simple. Just go to the Git Download Folder and follow the instructions.
  • Go to the current directory where you want the cloned directory to be added.
    • To do this, insert the cd and add your folder location. You can add folder location by dragging the folder to Git bash.
    • $ cd ‘/c/Users/jc.chouinard/My First Git Project’
  • Go to the page of the repository you want to clone
  • Click on “Clone or download” and copy the URL.
  • Use the git clone command with the URL you copied from the previous one.
    • $ git clone https://github.com/USERNAME/REPOSITORY
  • Press Enter.
    • $ git clone https://github.com/USERNAME/REPOSITORY
    • Closed in Git…
    • remote: reading: 13, do.
    • remote: compression sound: 100% (13/13), done.
    • Subtract: Total 13 (delta 1), reuse 0 (delta 1)
    • Unlocked items: 100% (13/13), done.
